The Importance of Managing Your Personal Brand
By: Meryem Aksahan
Individuals take managing their personal brand lightly, especially when it’s a work or connection/network opportunity atmosphere. Your personal brand is a major component of how people recognize you and your personal capital. This, as a result, has a huge impact on your success, and potential experiences. In short, it will build your career journey, for the good or for the bad.
Be yourself. The bolded words are self-explanatory. Don’t try acting like someone else, and be the person you want to be. It will make the process of accomplishing your goals easier and encourage a stable and unique work environment. As TMG would put it, just “unleash your pink sheep”!
Share Yourself. The more you spread your knowledge, the more evident you personal and career assets are. This will help others acknowledge the gift you will be giving to your fellow co-workers and acquaintances.
Value your capital/expertise. Your abilities, experiences, and prowess’s are important elements in your life. Do not assume that your skills are unimportant due to the current situation you are in, even if your work does not require you to have those skills and make use of them. Your abilities, experiences, and prowess’s is valuable to you and others
Value the capital of others. What makes a team powerful is the different strengths members bring to it. These different strengths include valuing, allowing, and helping them to develop their skills and expertise, and listening to their opinions. When these are put together, it will only benefit you and your team.
Cultivate your brand. Your personal brand is a basis you should always be conscious about. Be aware of how you portray yourself and how others perceive that portrayal. Once you assemble feedback figure out methods of how you can improve yourself.
Empower others to do the same. This article is not written merely based on you. You need to build a strong image and brand with the support of others, which is obtained by you supporting others along the way. The support of others is a key to a strong personal image and brand!
Know the rules of the game. It’s not only about managing your personal brand and capital, but also about how you play the game within your workforce. Expertise and recognition within a certain field is an important factor, however, if you don’t know how to operate successfully within your work environment then that expertise and recognition won’t matter.
